In Matlock town centre, you’ll find there are a host of things to see and do including an array of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Don't forget to explore Hall Leys Park, where attractions like a boating lake, scenic riverside walks, tennis courts, skatepark and a miniature railway await visitors of all ages. 

Activities for Families

Gulliver's Kingdom offers a thrilling experience with rides, shows, and play areas tailored for younger children. For a scenic adventure, Heights of Abraham provides a cable car ride to a hilltop park where families can explore cavern tours, nature trails, and panoramic views. There's also Matlock Farm Park that offers a hands-on experience with animals to pet and feed, alongside indoor and outdoor play areas for children to enjoy. For those seeking more thrills, within an hours drive Alton Towers provides a world-class theme park experience with rides and attractions for all ages.

Nearby Towns

Only 2 miles from Matlock, you will find Matlock Bath, known for its arcades, ice cream shops, fish and chip restaurants, and aquarium, making it popular with families (and motorbikers!). If you visit in Autumn, don't miss the Matlock Bath Illuminations and firework display, which are especially popular with children and adults alike. Nearby, you can also explore Bakewell, a picturesque market town known for its famous Bakewell pudding; Ashbourne, the "Gateway to Dovedale"; and Belper, a historic town with a rich industrial heritage.

Historic Attractions

Just a short drive from Matlock, you'll find Chatsworth House, renowned for its gardens and art collections, and Haddon Hall, a beautifully preserved medieval manor. Derbyshire also boasts other notable historic sites such as Hardwick Hall, an impressive Elizabethan mansion near Chesterfield; Kedleston Hall, an elegant 18th-century mansion near Derby; and Calke Abbey, offering a glimpse into a 'un-stately' English country house near Ticknall.
